No.1 Ship Street. Award winning independent restaurant in Oxford city centre. Modern British Brasserie

This place is great value. Linen table cloths, interesting menus and bereft of pretension tucked behind St Michael’s Church.

Call ahead to make sure its open with a table available.

Or Brunch….

English cuisine is arguably best known for its fry-up breakfast.

The most authentic ‘greasy spoon in Oxford is undoubtedly in the covered market at Brown’s.

It is so authentic that it does not even have a web site but you will find it and reviews on any search engine.

The Vault’s Cafe in Radcliffe Square also does fabulous breakfast in an outstanding environment.

and a really snug pub

Kings Arms Oxford - Traditional British pub in city centre

The Kings Arms is a personal favourite. The menu changes and is very good. Their fare includes snacks including pies and fine local brews and a homemade scotch egg I regularly make a little pilgrimage for. The chips are also exceptionally good.

This King’s Arms is a celebration of a man king after a stint with Elizabeth I.
